The CPI Conference was held at the Fuji Hakone-Land hotel. This
facility is composed of two hotel sections and a separate auditorium
hall. One hotel section is fairly new and can be seen in this picture.
The end of old hotel section can be seen on the right side of the
picture.
Here is another view of the old hotel
section (where I stayed). My room should be just behind those trees
in the center of the picture. The old hotel section was a little run
down and had an overall dank feeling to it, but otherwise it was perfectly
adequate and considering how busy and tired I was, I always slept
well.
Here is the main auditorium as we're setting
up for a main session.
Here is the A/V booth where I handled
live video editing and recording and others handled audio and stage
management. Look at all that equipment! And all of it provided for
free of charge for the conference by volunteers!
Carol Chisolm (the St. Louis team leader)
and her son Paul enjoy an gyu-don (beef and rice) obento lunch while
taking in God's grandeur as they enjoy the view of Mount Fuji.
Mount Fuji can be seen in the background
between Paul and Carol.
A picturesque shot of Mount Fuji through
the trees.
A close-up (well, as close as my camera
can get) of Mount Fuji.

On the way back to Tokyo we saw them making
Tako-Yaki, a type of grilled octopus treat. On the left you can see
the first steps of filling the special grills with chunks of octopus,
followed by batter and various other ingredients.
As the batter cooks, it solidifies and
is constantly turned over and formed into individual balls. The cooks
are quite fast at it.
