I'm pleased to report that we have managed to avoid chain restaurants so far (unless you count Safeway where we picked up groceries for breakfast). The interesting thing is that you can't always tell which places are tourist traps and which ones are real local jewels. The ads and articles in the magazines are obviously skewed and we've had to reconcile three different maps to determine which places to go to. As a result, we've also had some good driving adventures exploring strange roads in a search for obscure attractions, many of which we've enjoyed, despite being off the beaten path. Unfortunately, I had to work for an hour this morning so I won't be able to go into detail right now. Posted 06/14/2007 04:50 PM in Uncategorized | Total Comments: (3) Link To This Blargh Comments
5-hit combo (er... chain) Well, if you need something off the beaten road (or right on the roadside), perhaps you can give Roadfood's reviews a try. Here are the five they've got for the state of Hawaii: http://www.roadfood.com/Restaurants/SearchResults.aspx?st=restaurants&ps=1&s=HI&c=&kw=&pkw=&ob=restaurantname Submitted by Dan on 06/15/2007 04:02 AM Unfortunately, none of those are on Maui. Blah -- even without the recs, I wish you luck on your asphault adventures. Submitted by Dan on 06/15/2007 05:14 PM Add Comment
