 The Lizard 2003 - Hour 4

Hour 4 - "Taking It Easy!" and "Did I just break my car?"

After the scenic stop, I took over again. It looked like all the other cars had joined up to make one large group so we all left the river together. We weren't pushing quite as hard as we had before and it was a pretty enjoyable drive. I wasn't pushing as hard as I had before and there were quite a few instances when I purposely didn't push the car, for instance there were quite a few straight-aways where I could have gone much faster but I decided to limit my speed to about 80. As we continued on, the group headed toward another scenic viewpoint, but Ben and I decided to continue on our own. We took a break at an intersection (see pics). We even saw a cop drive by, but he didn't even give us a glance. We also spent some time looking for some camera batteries that I had lost during Ben's spirited driving (I just found one of them today... so only one is still missing). Right about then the group showed up again and we continued on.

But then, we had car trouble. Every time we turned hard there was a strange rattling noise on the passenger side so we turned off the road to take a look. Some of the cars saw our troubles and radioed ahead to inform everyone else. Ben and I took a look and couldn't figure out what the problem was and decided to continue on and see if it got worse. As we drove over the top of a hill, I was quite surprised to find all the other cars waiting for us! Now that's chivalry! It was very encouraging to know that our fellow enthusiasts were concerned about our well-being and were willing to wait for us.

After that we continued on only to discover a dog in the road, blocking traffic. Everyone got around it except for the silver WRX behind us. They ended up stuck behind the dog for a minute or so and by the time they got around it they ended up stuck behind a truck as well. I held back so they wouldn't end up lost, as did a coupe other cars and slowly but surely we all made it to the end without any serious problems.

More pics of my car, in all sorts of angles.

More pics of my car and Ben taking a break.

The intersection where we waited and nice shot off my roof even though it was filthy.
