On our way back to Tokyo from Hakone, we stopped at a rest area for some food. Here we have Chiji-mi for ¥300. I don't know what that means exactly, but it's basically a type of savory pancake with scallions. You can get similar things in Korea and China. I think these are actually Chinese because the syllabary/alphabet used here is for foreign words. These were very tasty and taste very much like Chinese ones I've had before. |

I returned to Tsukiji market and this time went to the other famous sushi shop, Daiwa Sushi. This place is run by a father and son who run separate halves of the restaurant, as seen in the center picture here. The wait was about 90 minutes at noon but I got lucky being a single person when they only had one spot open and got seated in 60 minutes. The guy standing next to me was Taiwanese (and Christian since he was asking his Japanese friend about churches, but the Japanese guy knew nothing about any churches) and called out "Lucky!" as I cut ahead of a half dozen people. |

Even though it was raining, Dai sushi was equally packed. |
